Tips for a Perfect Day at the Beach

Planning for a beach day? Whether you’re planning to spend the whole day at the beach or just spending a couple hours soaking up the sun, packing these essentials are sure to make sure you have the best beach day possible!

Don’t Skip the Sunscreen

While you are soaking up the sun at the beach or at one of our Miramar Beach vacation rentals it's a good idea to bring along your sunscreen. The Florida sun rays are strong and hot, and Florida native or not, there’s nothing like a sunburn to ruin the next few days of a vacation. When shopping for sunscreen, try to find a broad spectrum, UVA/UVB protection that’s water-resistant, and apply it often for the best protection.

Bring Extra Towels and Blankets 

The more towels the better. One per person may seem like enough, but sand and water have a way of getting to everything. Use an old blanket or bed sheet to spread out on the sand first, then put all your things on it to hold it down. This has also been a lifesaver when an afternoon shower rolls in, just grab all four corners, throw it over your shoulder, and you’re good to go!

Find Some Shade

If there’s no shade in sight, it’s absolutely worth getting a giant beach umbrella or even a beach pop-up tent. Most beach tents have a mesh window, allowing you to enjoy the breeze while getting a much-needed break from the sun.

Pack a Cooler Like a Pro

A hard-shell cooler works best, but any cooler will do. Freeze any water bottles or juice boxes overnight and let them cool the rest of your food and thaw in the sun. You could also fill sandwich bags with water and freeze them overnight, creating inexpensive DIY ice packs! Throw all your drinks, fruits, and snacks on top, then add a layer of paper towels before adding your sandwiches. This will ensure you get no soggy sandwiches!

Bring a Mesh Bag

Stash all of your plastic shovels, buckets, toys, and more in a laundry-style mesh bag. Just give it a few shakes at the end of the day, and the sand will fall out. You’ll thank us later!

• Secret Valuables/Cash Holder (for when you leave your bag on the beach and go swimming)

• Empty Gallon Water Jug (fill with water and leave in car to rinse sand off of your feet)
