Fall is a great time to visit Destin, Florida. The kids have started school and summer crowds have left the beach, there's less humidity along with warm waters, and fall festivals and events making it a great time to book your vacation for that much needed break.
Beautiful Weather and Sunsets
During the fall months, it can be pleasant to visit the beach because the water is still warm enough for swimming and the air temperatures are cool and comfortable. As the heat and humidity dissipate, it's enjoyable to be outside, enjoying vivid blue skies, the most colorful sunsets, and white sand beaches.
Fall Festivals and Events
The Destin Seafood Festival is one of the biggest fall events on the Emerald Coast. The three-day festival takes place on the Destin Harbor in October, kicking off the Destin Fishing Rodeo, where each year fishermen return in hopes of catching the big one.
Each year, the Mattie Kelly Festival of the Arts showcases hundreds of unique works of art from artists all over the world. From photography to pottery and watercolor, you’ll find it all at this family-friendly weekend event. After exploring the visual artwork on display, be sure to stop by the live music stage for some toe-tapping tunes.
More Peace & Quiet
One of our favorite things about the fall is the chance to relax and enjoy solitude. With school back in session, the crowds start to thin out making it the perfect time to find a quiet stretch of beach to relax, listen to the waves, enjoy the breeze, and feel the sand between your toes. You may also find it easier to book your favorite restaurants that typically have a longer wait, like Restaurant Paradis in Rosemary Beach, Mimmo’s Ristorante Italiano in Destin, and Bud & Alley`s in Seaside.
The fall is also a great time to save on vacation rentals. Rates are reduced during the fall and winter months, so you can discover the joys of a fall beach vacation.
